Osteoporosis therapy

Strong bones: Those who are active early on, can remain so later in life

Approximately one out of three women and one out of five men in Europe are affected by premature bone atrophy. Therefore, we provide you with interesting information about signs, clinical diagnostics and therapy of this disease, which is often detected too late, in our 'Focal point osteoporosis'.

General information on osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is one of the most widespread diseases and also an economic problem worldwide. Osteoporosis is a disease which involves the loss of bone mass and at the same time a reduced quality of microarchitecture. It develops through increased bone resorption and/or reduced bone formation. Approximately one out of three women and one out of five men in Europe suffer from premature bone atrophy.

In Germany alone, every one and a half minutes a bone fracture of the femoral neck, forearm or one of the vertebral bodies caused by osteoporosis occurs. Unfortunately, a large part of the patients remain in need of care after such fractures. That is why the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis is becoming more and more important. Today, osteoporosis can even be stopped to some extent by means of modern therapies.

Our most effective weapons: prevention and early diagnosis

Early diagnosis is the only chance of detecting and treating osteoporosis on time. Bone atrophy is not an old-age disease. It often begins at an early age – gradually and without being noticed. Unfortunately, osteoporosis is often not detected until it is too late and cumulative bone fractures or deformations of the spine occur. At the same time, the diagnosis of osteoporosis can even be avoided in many cases if care is taken that the disarticulated bones are kept as stable as possible during the first three decades of life.

Therefore, we have put together interesting information for you on health protection and treatment. We provide you with information on causes, first warning signals as well as prevention. Moreover, you learn about details on diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, which can be used in cases of osteoporosis. When conservative measures are no longer sufficient, today, very gentle help can be provided with the microsurgical injection of bone cement for example.
